Independence Instruction Model
- Independent study is a voluntary program offered by the school district to assist students who find the regular classroom settings do not meet their needs.
- Students are guided by a teacher, participate in small group instruction, and are responsible for investigating and researching independently.
- Much of a students knowledge will be conducted outside the classroom.
- The student must demonstrate that knowledge to his/her teacher and a small group of peers in the weekly classroom setting.
- Difficult concepts or new content will be introduced and taught by the subject teacher and the student will then independently seek more practice, research and application.
- Student, parent and teacher must sign the master agreement prior to starting school.
- Students will be given a course sheet for each class in which they are enrolled which outlines the assignments that they must complete.
- If a student is absent from class OR does not turn work in for three consecutive weeks in any one of the courses then they will be automatically dropped from the program and will have to return to the school of their attendance area.
